    Writing:  Explaining a Process

Pick something you like and write about how it’s made.

    For example,

To create the ultimate hamburger, you would follow this sure-proof step-by-step process.

Firstly, you need to consider the meat you will use since it’s the star of the dish.  I would highly recommend a blend of 80% assorted beef cuts (chuck, sirloin, short rib) and 20% fat content from beef brisket.  You don’t want your burger to be too lean – remember that fat is flavour.  Once ground, you want to make a good 8oz patty with your hands and season each side with salt and pepper.  Sear on a flat top for 4 minutes per side to create a crust and keep the centre moist and juicy.  Top with 2 strips of crisp hickory-smoked bacon.

Next, you need to consider the bun – you want an equal ratio of bread to meat.  I would recommend either a salty pretzel bun that’s not too dense or a soft buttery French brioche.

Thirdly, select fresh and crisp romaine lettuce leaves, a thick ripe tomato slice, and/or a tangy pickle slice as your toppings.  Thinking of ketchup or mustard?  Don’t let them overshadow the meat!

Lastly, get into the classic Guy Fieri stance (hunched over the table ensuring the juices don’t run down your arms and onto your shirt) and enjoy the explosion of flavour with your first giant bite.  I guarantee this hamburger is money! Be sure to have plenty of napkins on hand. Bon appetite!
