Novel Study Task

Complete the following using a table in MS Word
  • Research the specific differences between the following terms:  magic, alchemy, necromancy, scrying, astrology, divination, sorcery, and aura.
  • Research the unique characteristics of each creature:  golem, simulacra, homunculus, and pterosaur.

History Task

Continue adding information to your New France: A Royal Colony prezi.  Your last frame should be The Seigneurial System, following my example: http://prezi.com/b674n7lyc9cx/new-france-a-royal-colony/?kw=view-b674n7lyc9cx&rc=ref-11254811).

Your next frame is to include information about Food, Clothing, Homes and Work Calendar located in text on pgs.73-75.

Math Task

Text pg. 314 carefully read through Yuki's Solution (fraction strip multiplication) and Ryan's Solution (number line multiplication); you may also multiply across, then divide & simplify; you may also use decimals.  Work on questions 4 to 8, showing your work/thinking in the form of pics/calculations, not just an answer.

Science Task

Having completed your Heat Transfer: Conduction, Convection, Radiation & Energy Conservation prezi, read text pg.221-222.

Your task is to determine if the building materials used in today's new home construction does indeed help conserve energy to prevent energy loss by conduction, convection and/or radiation.

What specific energy-conserving strategies do today's home-builders use and build into every new home?

For example, read through the 6 Eco Features built into this home by Mike Holmes: http://makeitright.ca/Holmes_Media/lienonme/eco_features.php

You may work with a partner and use any platform to display examples.

Read-a-thon Task

Write an announcement to read over P.A. for example:

Hello St. Simon!
May is read-a-thon month!
Grab your favorite paperback or ebook!
Did you know that ebooks are available for free download from our toronto public library using your library card? check it out - it's free and fast!
Primaries, read up on Dr. Seuss' inspiring picture book "oh the places you'll go"
Juniors, read up on Suzanne Collins' dramatic trilogy "the hunger games"
Intermediates, read up on S.E. Hinton's classic novel about friendship and loyalty "the outsiders"
Remember, at St. Simon, we read to live and live to read!
