March 25-29

Mar 25-
  • math: complete final fraction task circle graph fraction, equivalent, percents
  • reading: add to theme table little prince
notes we discussed today:
  • adults stifle imagination, creativity, sense of wonder; are data-driven and discourage instead of empower
  • we need to be less superficial and less judgemental of others
  • flower: pride, vanity, self-righteousness, guilts others, vulnerable underneath, needs constant attention
  • baobabs: need constant tending or can consume you; responsibilities need daily attention before they overwhelm you
  • king, conceited man, businessman, drunkard: all absurd, illogical, have no purpose, serve no purpose, don't make a positive impact or difference, spinning their wheels going no where, no growth
  • lamplighter: selflessness vs selfishness; being loyal & faithful to something/someone other than yourself
  • geographer: get out and experience life first hand out of the box; appreciate all that this ephemeral that doesn't last forever before it's gone
  • we need to establish loving bonds with others
  • snake: "all knowing", powerful, represents risk and death
  • "lonely among men" while we are connected i.e. social media, we still create distance and division between us, as if isolated in desert
  • while prince saw multitude of identical roses, we learn that all relationships are unique and special in their own way and should be cherished
Mar 26-
  • life is about establishing meaningful, positive connections with others, investing your time and heart into relationships
  • connections and bonds with others become unique and special and are to be cherished
  • we are to use our hearts to guide us, our actions, to help us see clearly
  • we are to practice mindfulness and being present vs going through the motions aimlessly, without any thought or direction

Mar 27-
  • History The Quebec Act table to complete
  • Math Volume & Surface Area task
  • Little Prince theme table notes to explain "eyes are blind, one must look with the heart", "you risk tears if you let yourself be tamed", and "you - only you - will have stars that can laugh" what's the significance of each
  • Little Prince inspirational quotes begin to think about how to showcase 2 of them artistically using mixed media
Mar 28-
  • students begin working on theme write-up for the Little Prince (following example provided) to display alongside quote art pieces
  • history Quebec act task due end of day Friday
Mar 29-

Continue drafting 2 themes of The Little Prince using notes and sample provided.  Then begin typing on GoogleDocs (paragraphs, decorative border, font size 12-14 max).  Share with me for revision/edits and printing.  Continue with Little Prince quote art piece to complement your writing and for hallway display.
