CHAPTER 3

RE-TELL:
Parvana and her mother go to the prison to bail out the father / husband. The guards beat Parvana and her mother with sticks.

Questions:
1.  What does the author want to convey (tell us) by showing that the soldiers beat up Parvana, Nooria and her mother?
2.  What is important about Parvana, as a woman, having the courage to do what she did?
