Questions:
1. What does the author want to convey (tell us) by showing that the soldiers beat up Parvana, Nooria and her mother?
2. What is important about Parvana, as a woman, having the courage to do what she did?
1. What the author is trying to tell us by
showing that the soldiers beat up Parvana, Nooria and her mother is that
Afghanistan has an unfair society. Also, it is a lot different from
where we are coming from. We also see the author trying to show how strict the political system in Afghanistan is. In Canada, people are not allowed to treat each other this way. The author wants to show the difference between a place like Afghanistan and a place in North America like Canada.
2. The important thing about Parvana, as
a woman having the courage to do what she did is that she is not like the other
girls. She is brave and confident. Parvana's feet were swollen and in pain and she still had the courage to try to aid her mother in pain. Girls can do exactly what boys can and should not be treated any differently, and this is the message sent.
